TG and the Blue Boys

School dances, powder-blue outfits, and a bass guitar.

Terry’s recollections take an unexpected musical turn when he talks about high school. With friends he knew from summers at the Oregon coast, he formed a band called TG and the Blue Boys.

The name came from Thomas Gainsborough’s painting The Blue Boy. Terry remembers persuading his friends to wear powder-blue outfits and matching hats, then playing school dances with him on bass.

He tells the story with humor about their musical abilities and affection for the time they spent together.

It is another side of A Living Legacy: the friendships and everyday pleasures Terry shares alongside the public milestones.
