Givers give

“It's givers give. Givers give.”
— Terry Bean, oral history

In his oral history, Terry pushes back against the idea that support for one organization must come at the expense of another. He remembers people worrying that a gift to HRC would leave less money for Victory Fund or another organization.

His experience suggested a different possibility: bringing someone into the movement through one organization could encourage that person to support others, too. He recalls donors who became involved with HRC and then also gave to Victory Fund.

This recollection offers a starting point for Terry to expand on the relationships behind fundraising: how people were invited in, why they stayed, and how a shared purpose reached beyond a single organization.
