A map on the bedroom wall

“my whole wall in my bedroom was a world map”
— Terry Bean, oral history

Among his childhood memories, Terry singles out a world map that covered a bedroom wall beside his bed. He remembers learning the countries and feeling fascinated by them.

In the interview, that memory leads into his interest in geography, international relationships, and even the board game Risk. It offers a quieter glimpse of the curiosity behind his public life.

A journal can hold these smaller recollections alongside the major milestones: the objects, places, and habits that shaped how Terry saw the world.
